Your questions answered:
How do I attend?
Send an email with a receipt of your donation to the effective charity The Life You Can Save (minimum $10) to PublicIntellectualsforEA@gmail.com to receive your invitation to the grand hall zoom meeting on the day of the event. Our 1,000 seats will be assigned by auction, so that the biggest donations will receive seats first. (What this means is that if enough people beat your donation, you won’t receive your invitation on the day of the event, so exceeding the $10 minimum is strongly encouraged!)
That is, your money should be sent to The Life You Can Save directly; you only owe us a receipt in order to attend the event.
Can I ask questions to the speakers?
Yes! Along with your receipt, submit a question in advance for a chance to ask it during the audience Q&A. Questioners who send us evidence of bigger donations will be prioritized during this section.
If you decide to ask a question during the event, send us a receipt of at least $10 to PublicIntellectualsforEA@gmail.com with your question attached. We will be monitoring our email during the event and will advance your question to the queue according to whose donations are the most generous!
Is my ticket good for every event in the series?
Yes; however, if someone beats your donation, you will not receive an invitation to the meeting taking place that day.
How will I know if my donation has been beaten?
You will receive an email at 8:00 AM on the day of the event with the zoom invitation. The invitation may expire, however, if your donation is beaten after that point, in which case you will hear from us again on a recurring basis leading up to the event.
Will the recordings of the events be made available elsewhere?
No! This is your only opportunity to attend these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to see the best of the world’s minds engaging on the issues of today. If that interests you, make your donation to The Life You Can Save and attend the event live!*
*This policy is subject to changing in the unlikely event that we change our minds, but don’t count on it!
What is the format?
Minimally moderated dialogues featuring a 10 minute opening statement by each speaker, followed by a 5-7 rebuttal period for each speaker, followed by open discussion for 20-25 minutes. Then, after those 42 minutes or so, we will take questions from the audience for 10-15 minutes.
